CORE was the first civil rights organization in this country to have been awarded a special non-governmental consultative status (NGO) at the United Nations. CORE is currently assigned to two of the United Nations' most prestigious departments: (1) the United Nations Department of Public Information (UNDPI), and (2) United Nations Economic and Social Council (UNESCO). CORE partners with these UN organizations to host conferences on various issues of interest to the US and the world. CORE NGO members attend various International Conferences around the world.  Of special interest are:

World Health Organization (WHO) on third world health related issues in particular those war-torn countries that are susceptible to outbreak of infectious diseases and the distribution of safe and effective vaccines.  CORE has been very engaged in the fight against AIDS and malaria in Africa.

High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on programs that protect and assist refugees as they return or resettle. This is particularly important in third world countries where populations are being displaced in those war-torncountries and desperately require resettlement, rehabilitation and reintegration into local communities.

United Nations World Food Program (UNWFP) and the fight against world hunger.  Of special concern is the nutrition and the distribution of quality food to those in displaced populations.

United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on literacy for third world populations and the balance of iinequalities in education for millions of children.
